Each year, the fashion industry generates more than 92 million tonnes of textile waste. A large portion ends up incinerated or buried, releasing pollutants into the air and soil. After setting up a programme for jean collection in Quebec, the idea of creating a recycled denim belt bag was born!

Why create a fanny pack from recycled denim in Quebec?

Le denim (jeans) is one of the most polluting textiles to produce worldwide:

• up to 7 500 litres of water are needed to make a single pair of jeans;
• a pair of jeans can travel up to 65,000 km before arriving at the store;
• more than 70% of the environmental impact it happens to a pair of jeans before it is even worn.

Thanks to the recovery of old jeans, the recycled denim belt bag drastically reduces the environmental footprint of this material. It does not use additional fabric, no dyeing, no mass production and the material already exists, revalorized, locally in Québec.

Each step of creating the cut, including assembly, stitching and lining, is carried out entirely in Québec at the Marie Fil workshop in Limoilou. Buying this bag means:
