Dilution at a ratio of 10%
This essential oil is diluted to a 10% ratio, that is 1 part essential oil to 9 parts fractionated coconut oil.
It is therefore necessary multiply by 10 the quantity of any essential oil labeled "10%" to substitute it for a pure essential oil.
On the concoction side, if a large amount of 10% essential oil is used, one must reduce the amount of vegetable oil from our recipes to compensate for the volume taken up by the vegetable oil contained in the diluted essential oil.
Some little examples:
-
The drops: a recipe asks for 1 drop pure essential oil. You can substitute this pure essential oil with 10 drops of 10% essential oil. This tiny amount has not really any impact on the total volume of a recipe.
-
The millilitres: a recipe calls for 0.5 ml of pure essential oil. You can substitute this pure essential oil with 5 ml of 10% essential oil. In such a case, this quantity has a greater impact on the total volume of a recipe. Thus, you subtract from 4.5 ml (5 - 0.5 = 4.5, right!) the amount of vegetable oil the recipe might contain to adjust the total oil volume.
